On NTV – the premiere of the military drama “Call sign” Cranes “

On May 8, the NTV channel will air the premiere of the historical military drama Callsign Cranes. The four-episode film tells about a military intelligence platoon during the Great Patriotic War. The project was based on the events of 1943 that took place in the Smolensk direction of the front.

The main characters are a front-line reconnaissance platoon. There are different people in it, with difficult destinies. Penitentiaries and athletes, peasants and city dwellers… They are united by incredible courage, military ingenuity and a sense of belonging to the army elite. In the regiment of scouts, they affectionately call “cranes” by their call sign – “Cranes”. These are Lieutenant Ivashov (Vladimir Verevochkin), Petty Officer Krainev (Alexey Shevchenkov), Private Zadorozhny, nicknamed Zhila (Dmitry Belotserkovsky), Junior Sergeant Zinoviev, nicknamed Gramophone (Sergey Chirkov), Private Kostromin, nicknamed Kostroma (Mark Vdovin ), private Kacheishvili, nicknamed “Beso” (Beso Gataev), junior sergeant Alekseev, nicknamed “Boatswain” (Alexander Oblasov), sailor Chaika (Gleb Bochkov) and others.

Many really consider the platoon to be a charmed one, because its fighters manage to return alive from the most disastrous situations. But in reality, everything is not so simple. Often sorties end in failure, the scouts carry their wounded and killed friends on themselves. In all situations, the main principle remains unchanged: we do not abandon our own. Each task is a game with death. The enemy is very close. Resourcefulness, ingenuity and the help of friends help in the most dangerous situations. It is from a series of such situations and short hours of rest that the life of scouts is formed – strong people who trust each other even in the midst of the pitch horror of war.

Vladimir Veryovochkin: “I really love military pictures! It is a great honor and a great responsibility for me to work with such strong material. My grandfather went through the whole war, escaped from two captivity, reached the end and raised strong, happy and merciful children. It was impossible to hear scolding and discontent from his speeches, he knew one thing: if you want to make the world a better place, start making your world happy and complete! I really fell in love with the hero Ivashov and knew that I would take this role, no matter what it cost me! I am proud of this role, it taught me a lot: together with it I grew even more, broke, fell and got up again. Incredible hero. And there were a lot of them at that time! We had a great team, Igor Stanislavovich gathered around him young, daring and ambitious guys, you will see the result yourself. I thank everyone for their contribution to this common cause.

Igor Ugolnikov: “Front-line scouts are fighters of the invisible front. Their war is a daily struggle with death. They also had their own special code of “we don’t leave our own”. “I would go with him to intelligence” – they say about a person who can be relied on. That’s just in the time that has passed since the war, the original meaning of this phrase has been erased and depreciated. What is real front-line intelligence, what each search behind the front line cost, what kind of blood they paid for “languages” and valuable intelligence – only front-line intelligence officers themselves can tell. And each such evidence is worth its weight in gold. Studying the materials and memoirs of those times, I am surprised how much incredible courage the front-line scouts had. And now, especially now, it is necessary to tell and show the younger generation the history of the exploits of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers.”
