Odnoklassniki and Young Old Lab, on the occasion of the Day against Ageism, which is celebrated on January 13, presented a joint project about older people with unusual hobbies. The purpose of the action is to show that there is no “right age” for hobbies, even non-standard and extreme ones. This was reported by the press service of the social network.
With the help of the project, the partners strive to destroy the stereotypes that have developed in society about older people, their interests and hobbies. In OK, representatives of different generations interact with each other every day, including older users: 13% of women and men over 55 years old. They also communicate on social networks with friends and family, share their achievements and hobbies.
Four people who were passionate about unusual activities were selected for the project, about which videos were shot. The founder of the laboratory, Tatyana Drozdova, acted as an interviewer and talked with the participants about how they struggled with age discrimination. In the video, the characters share how they started pursuing their hobbies, what their life mottos are, what they value most in people, and what is the secret of their happiness.
“In addition to the videos, OK and Young Old Lab have prepared a series of educational cards about ageism and its manifestations. From them, social network users will be able to learn why age discrimination is dangerous and how it manifests itself, why aging is often hidden and how this can be changed,” the press service notes.
