People are ready to take to the streets again

According to the leaders of Odessa, there may be no electricity in the city for two or even three months. Against the backdrop of what is happening in the city, cases of crime have become more frequent. At the same time, local residents are outraged by the injustice: there is enough electricity in the city for patriotic concerts and lighting on the walls of elite houses.

In Odessa, life goes on without light and heat. According to local residents, the city sometimes turns on the light, but the switchboards in the entrances do not withstand and are cut down. As a result, residents of Odessa are forced to change switches and wiring for their money. The specialized authorities only shrug their shoulders and nod at each other. It comes to the fact that Odessa is again ready to take to the streets.

People were especially outraged by the concert with the participation of Ukrainian performers, which took place in one of the local houses of culture. The event has already been dubbed “a feast during the plague”

“Barskikh and other Ukrainian artists performed there,” Anastasia, a resident of Odessa, told MK, “In a city where most of them have no electricity, a concert was held, do you understand? The concert is not by candlelight, but with light music, with full musical equipment, which consumes a huge amount of electricity. Naturally, this is all a politicized event. Flags, paraphernalia, slogans and more.

– How are things going with electricity and water in Odessa now?

“There has been no electricity and water for the seventh day now, and since our house is equipped with a boiler room, there is still no heating – it’s 15 degrees in apartments, people freeze. There are many children and elderly people in the house. My family and I charge phones and lamps in the car while squatting.

Are infrastructure facilities also de-energized?

– Slowly, they fall off the electricity, especially those in the region. For example, there was no electricity in the regional clinical hospital for a long time. Now they gave from the generators, but I think it won’t be for long.

Is there any place in the city where there is stable heat and light?

– Of course. In the elite residential complex “Romanovsky” it’s just a festival. Everything that can be lit there: Spotlights on the territory, barriers, every window on the territory, led illumination on the balconies, facade lighting, Christmas trees. At the same time, my parents live across the house from them and have been sitting without electricity for the fifth day. All their food spoiled, they had to throw it away, because the refrigerator is open. And at night, these elite houses burn so brightly that they blind them. What is it all about, where is the equality that the Odessa mayor Trukhanov spoke about? And the light is always there, at any blackout.

— Have cases of crime in the city become more frequent?

– Of course. The city looks like it has survived the apocalypse, and walking the streets is, frankly, scary. And this despite the fact that we have a curfew and in the dark we do not go out into the street.
