Nutritionist told which popcorn is better to choose

When choosing popcorn, it is better to opt for a product with a minimum content of calories and flavorings, Antonina Starodubova, chief nutritionist of Moscow, told RIA Novosti.
January 22 is Popcorn Day.
Starodubova noted that due to the calorie content and the large number of flavors, it is better to refrain from excessive consumption of cheese popcorn.
The nutritionist said that the corn grain itself does not pose any threat, especially since modern technologies make it possible to do without calcining it in oil.
She said that the most calorie-dense popcorn is the one that uses fatty sauces, which can almost double the calorie content of the product.
“The fewer ingredients other than corn, the better,” she said.
She also recalled the high salt content in popcorn, as well as the presence of simple carbohydrates in it: the addition of sugar, syrups and caramel.
