The State Duma received 20 appeals from students of the DPR and LPR, who have not yet been demobilized

The working group on the interaction of authorities on issues of mobilization checks the implementation of the presidential decree on the deferral of conscription for students. She was approached by 20 students from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, who have been “at war” since February, said State Duma Vice Speaker Sholban Kara-ool.

“We are talking about students who were drafted from the DPR and LPR, we know each of them. I have a list of appeals, these are 20 guys who are on the front line. These are the guys who have been at war since February. We want to gradually return them to their desks so that they continue their studies and become specialists,” said Mr. Kara-ool TASS.

The deputy believes that the presidential decree should be “brought to its logical conclusion.” According to him, the work will be completed in the near future. After that, the working group will carry out similar work in relation to university teachers.

Prior to Russia’s annexation of the DPR and LPR, there was no respite from mobilization for students in the republics. Already in the Russian Federation, the authorities of the new regions signed decrees on the demobilization of students. President Vladimir Putin spokethat the demobilization of students in the republics, according to the plan, was to be completed on December 1, 2022.
