Nutritionist told the dangers of dinner before bedtime

A late dinner shortly before bedtime is fraught with a sharp increase in insulin in the blood, said nutritionist-therapist Olga Lushnikova in an interview with Izvestia.
The nutritionist noted that the human body is designed to consume the bulk of calories during daylight hours. At the same time, eating before bed, especially in the presence of a large amount of carbohydrates, can lead to an increase in insulin levels in the blood. In addition, it will affect the quality of sleep, as it will inhibit the production of the hormones melatonin and somatotropin necessary for the body.
Natalia Gridina, a dietitian at the online health management service Budu, noted that for dinner it is better to eat protein-rich foods, vegetables and fruits, as well as cottage cheese and cereals. These foods contain tryptophan, an amino acid that is responsible for the production of melatonin.
At the same time, Gridina advised to try not to eat later than two hours before bedtime.
