By the way, Pyatnitskaya is called the whole week, which falls on November 10th. But it was on this day that women asked Paraskeva for well-being in family life, and the girls prayed for an enviable groom and guessed at their betrothed-mummers.

Bachelors who were going to start a family could not overeat and get carried away with delicacies on Paraskeva Friday – it was believed that if you arrange a fast day for yourself, you will be able to find a bride faster. In addition, everyone was forbidden to sit down at the table after sunset – and modern nutritionists quite welcome this ban of our ancestors.

Memorial days continued for the departed ancestors – crumbs for birds were scattered at the cemetery, and pancakes were baked at home, serving them to the table with honey and butter. At the same time, they did not eat the first pancake – it relied on the spirits of deceased relatives.

One of the traditions in Rus’ on this day was “linen bride”. The hostesses boasted to each other, showing tattered flax-pervak ​​or already spun threads. It was believed that girls who could be proud of their success would get married faster.

But household chores, needlework and everything related to water (except for cooking), it was impossible to do Paraskeva Friday.

It was also not recommended to have fun and have fun – so as not to bring troubles and misfortunes on yourself. Also, our ancestors believed that if you mock others on this day, they will soon laugh at you; if a girl starts swearing and making trouble today, she will live alone; if a pregnant woman lends, she can give away her luck and control over her unborn child; if you start a new business, most likely it will bring losses and it will be difficult to complete it.

Natural signs on November 10 are as follows:
