The Tagansky Court of Moscow fined Novaya Gazeta 400,000 rubles. under the article on discrediting the Russian armed forces. Roskomnadzor found defamation in three articles of the first issue of Novaya rasskaz-gazeta, whose license had been revoked earlier by a court decision.

After Novaya Gazeta drew attention to the fact that the authors of the “express opinions” were unknown, Roskomnadzor declared them “preliminary” and compiled new examinations, Sergei Sokolov said. On the basis of new expertise, the court fined the newspaper.

On September 5, a court on the suit of Roskomnadzor annulled the license of Novaya Gazeta. The reason was “failure to submit the statute of the editorial office within the deadlines established by the law on mass media.” The next day, the Basmanny Court invalidated the registration of the Novaya rasskazh-gazeta magazine, whose founder was Novaya Gazeta.

Novaya Gazeta suspended its work on March 28. This decision was made after two warnings from Roskomnadzor about the absence of marking foreign agents in the materials of the publication. Two warnings per year allow one to file a lawsuit in court to revoke a media license.
