Not a single foreign hoster has yet decided to legalize it in the Russian Federation
Roskomnadzor has not submitted a single application from foreign organizations for registration as hosting providers in a special register, it informed RBC department representative. To date, he said, 266 providers are included in the register, and 44 applications are under consideration.
Hosting providers provide services for hosting websites. These are servers (a set of servers) on which all the files of a given site are stored and which, of course, are constantly connected to the Internet. In the summer of 2023, the Russian parliament adopted amendments according to which, from February 1, 2024, organizations that do not officially register in the registry will be prohibited from providing hosting services in our country.
Roskomnadzor reviews applications for such registration within 10 days. Thus, if one of the foreign providers decides to change his mind, he will not have time to complete the procedure within the specified period.
