In Moscow, Diana Gurtskaya’s husband, Pyotr Kucherenko, was carried off on his last journey. The Deputy Minister of Education died when he was returning to Moscow from a business trip to Cuba. At the Troekurovsky cemetery of the capital, Kucherenko was said goodbye with all honors and according to the state protocol. Hundreds of people accompanied Peter on his last journey, among whom was his only son Konstantin. Singer Alena Kravets told MK: the boy did not leave the cemetery empty-handed – at the end of the ceremony he was given a special gift.
During the farewell ceremony, the coffin with the body of Kucherenko was covered with the state flag: this is always done when they say goodbye to statesmen.
Before the burial, a flag-folding ceremony was held. The tricolor was folded in a special way. Each fold marked different things: a symbol of life, a symbol of faith in ordinary life … It is believed that the folded flag is a symbol of eternal life in people’s memory.
“The ceremony of folding the flag was very exciting,” says singer Alena Kravets. The flag was carefully placed in a wooden box. And they gave it to the son of Peter and Diana. Nobody expected this. “Accept from us this symbol of the Russian state, whose faithful son Peter has always been,” they said to Konstantin and held out the flag. This is a memory for him for a lifetime.
“At the moment when the flag was handed over to Konstantin, tears came to the eyes of all those present,” says Alena. The boy grew up in an instant. I am sure that his father will watch him and help from heaven. Because Peter loved Kostya very much.
He and Diana have a very developed boy. He studies well, always pleased his parents with his successes. Now he was left without a father, his main pillar of life. But Diana has a brother and other relatives. They will do everything necessary for the guy to grow up to be a real man.
