In the city of Oryol, additional shelters for residents will be installed in the near future. As reported in the regional government, this decision was made due to the increasing frequency of attacks by Ukrainian drones and the threat of missile strikes. The city is located 150 km in a straight line from the nearest section of the border with Ukraine.
According to the plan of the authorities in Oryol, special modular structures will be installed in the most accessible places. “We see what is happening in Belgorod and Kursk. Therefore, I consider it necessary to create additional conditions for the safety of our residents. There are never too many measures to protect the population, so it is advisable for us to play it safe,” said the governor of the Oryol region, Andrei Klychkov.
Modular designs to protect occupants began to appear in the Belgorod region at the end of last year. At the beginning of February, local authorities reported on the installation of more than 400 such fortifications at public transport stops.
The last drones were shot down on approach to Orel on Sunday, March 17. There were no injuries or damage. Early last week, due to an attack on an oil depot in the city happened fire.
