Director General of the Research Institute of Molecular Electronics Gennady Krasnikov was elected the new President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

He was born on April 30, 1958 in Tambov. Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of physics of semiconductor devices, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2008. Academician-Secretary of the Department of Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (since 2019), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, General Director of JSC NIIME, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Mikron.

The day before, in his speech to the academicians, Krasnikov presented his program, in which he reflected the main measures to return the Russian Academy of Sciences to its former significance.

Most of the members of the Academy voted for him today.

Recall that the struggle was between two candidates – Gennady Krasnikov and Dmitry Markovich. The third contender for a high post, the current president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, yesterday withdrew his candidacy from the elections.
