Moscow is one of the leading regions in the system of pre-professional education for children and teenagers. According to the Department of Education and Science of the capital, in schools this year engineering classes were opened in 222 scientific institutions, media classes in 155 organizations, entrepreneurial classes in 141, medical classes in 136, IT classes in 125, pedagogical classes in 112, academic – at 59.
As Natalya Kisileva, deputy head of the Moscow Department of Education and Science, noted at a press conference, graduates of pre-professional classes occupy leading positions in the ratings of applicants. And according to the admission committees of institutes, in recent years the number of children who enter state-funded places after completing pre-professional classes has increased by 2.5-3 times.
For a more active development of engineering and IT profiles, this year it is planned to supply several tens of thousands of new modern computers – monoblocks to the schools of the capital. They will be installed in computer science classrooms.
– Education in the capital’s schools means not only reading textbooks and writing in notebooks. The educational process involves the most modern digital services and technological tools. To make good use of these opportunities, schools need a modern infrastructure,” said Natalia Kisileva. – At the moment, about 20 thousand new monoblocks are used in more than 600 school buildings. We plan to complete this renewal program by the end of 2022.
In addition, this year it is planned to carry out a planned replacement of laptops in Moscow teachers, including primary school teachers; in educational buildings where schoolchildren of grades 1-4 study, free secure Internet will appear to access MES services.
