New default font in Microsoft Office will appear in September – Kommersant

American corporation Microsoft announced that the company will release an update to Office in September 2023 that will change the default font from Calibri to Aptos. A theme will also be available in office applications, including new color schemes, outlines and styles.
The default font will be replaced in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Previously it was called Bierstadt. It was created by one of the world’s leading designers, Steve Matteson. He renamed the font Aptos after his favorite city in Santa Cruz County, California. Aptos was chosen by users from five proposed options.
Microsoft believes that the new font works best with other visual changes to the office suite, and it will also look better on high-resolution screens. The new visual theme will improve application contrast and document readability, increase paragraph spacing, and make headings appear larger and bolder. For the first time that Microsoft plans to change the default font in Office, the company stated in July 2023, at the same time she began testing new changes.
