“Narcissus will no longer give birth”: the director and widow spoke about life without Pierre

Today, February 19, the performer of the legendary hit about the “chocolate hare”, Pierre Narcisse, would have turned 47 years old. On June 21, 2022, the musician passed away. He died in hospital from gout. After his death, the family had to face a lot of problems and scandals. The widow of Valeria Kalachev could not even properly bury her beloved husband, but the former director and friend Sergei Dvortsov tried to protect her from the attacks of haters and even separated her from her alleged former mistress. But, as you know, time heals. Almost two years have passed since then, and during this time life has changed. They told Moskovsky Komsomolets about how Narcissus’s relatives live now.

Let’s start with the fact that for Pierre’s fans, of course, the information that Valeria got married came as a big surprise. Kalacheva’s chosen one was musician Evgeny Shakhrai, who is 23 years older than her, but this did not interfere with the relationship. The author of the song “Lonely Lilac Branch” himself admitted that meeting Lera was one of the happiest events in his life.

“Valeria captivated me with her big and pure soul. When we met, I knew that she was the wife of Pierre Narcisse, but for me the concept of a widow is unacceptable – for me all souls are living, so I called her Pierre’s wife. People often ask me how you met, how you won her heart? I would answer that two souls simply met at the right time. We even have common interests – they completely coincide, there are no disagreements at all. I was very lucky – I found my soul mate, she is my support.

I used to be married, I won’t hide it, but there was a marriage in the name of my son. I didn’t have children for a long time, and now my son lives with me. A child at the age of 12, during a divorce, decided to stay with his father, this says a lot,” said Shakhrai.

Well, what about Valeria? Kalacheva has now not only established her family life, but is also actively engaged in creativity.

“After Pierre left, we got lost in time, stopped counting days, weeks, and existed somehow precariously. But life goes on. Daughter Caroline continues to play sports in the name of her dad, competes in tennis tournaments, and is studying at school. Well, Evgeny and I have already recorded six hits for our new album. Even when Pierre left, I promised at a press conference that I would continue his work, sing his songs. We’ve even shot a video for one song,” said the artist’s widow.

Many changes have occurred in the life of Narcissus’s close friend and director Sergei Dvortsov. At first he actively worked with his friend’s widow, but then their paths diverged.

“We didn’t get along in character, I would say, precisely in terms of creative relationships. We misunderstood each other a little. At some point we came to the conclusion that it would be more profitable for us not to work together anymore, but at the same time we remained friends. Some conflict that occurred initially has long been resolved. Now Valeria is fully engaged in her career in tandem with her chosen one Evgeniy Shakhrai. And, of course, my personal life. Their wedding will take place on May 31st. And I work with Victoria Pierre-Marie. She is Narcisse’s cousin in the Cameroonian diaspora,” Dvortsov said.

According to the former producer, after his death, the artist came to him in a dream and even inspired him to create.

“I always had thoughts about singing. Even when we worked with Pierre, he always teased me, saying, “I sing, our friends sing, let’s record a song too.” But then I answered, they say, why do I need it, I’m doing other work. After the tragedy happened with Pierre, I dreamed about him, especially at first, the first 40 days, then less often, warning me about some threats, although it’s hard to believe. On June 21 last year, when it was the anniversary of his death, I dreamed of him and said in plain text: “If you don’t start drinking now, you will have problems in your personal life and not only.” That is, I need to do this – the so-called karmic working off. And so I recorded the song “Broken Heart” in a duet with my friend. I just had a not very successful story when a girl cheated on me. After that, I realized that I didn’t want any relationship, but wanted to devote myself entirely to work. I really hope that listeners will like the song, and that someone in this story will even recognize themselves. This song is a retelling of the story of my personal life, it was also recorded in memory of Pierre, who was very dear to me. By the way, I’m preparing another song about Narcissus. I am grateful to him for a lot in life – for working together and being friends. He helped me in many ways, introduced me to the right people. Today, on his birthday, I’ll go to the temple, I’ll definitely light a candle and, most likely, I’ll visit Valeria and her daughter Caroline, whom Pierre always called a princess,” said Sergei.

After Narcissus’s death, the relationship between his wife and daughter and his family from Cameroon was widely discussed on the Internet. Now these relations have become a little better, although it cannot be said that some kind of close friendship has arisen between the families.

“Just like Valeria, I don’t communicate with his mother, but I periodically communicate with my sister Caroline. I ask how they are doing – she sends me photos, strongly encourages me to come to Cameroon. We want to do this, but due to circumstances it’s not possible: after all, the flight is 13 hours. But I’m sure that someday we will visit Narcissus’s grave. Although the main thing is not to come to the grave, but to be close to the soul that was close to you,” Sergei shared.

Throughout the past year, Dvortsov and Kalacheva also tried to resolve the issue of installing a monument in Moscow, but this idea had to be abandoned.

“Valeria and I initially had the idea to erect a monument on the territory of the institute where he studied. But, unfortunately, we were refused in the end – we needed certain documents that we were unable to collect. So now the monument has been erected in Cameroon, in Narcissus’s homeland – where he is buried, where his relatives live. For now we decided to go with this option,” said Dvortsov.

Many fans also remember the juicy story that was discussed all last year. Valeria Kalacheva planned to give birth to a child with her son Narcissus and even froze his biological material. But, as Dvortsov explained, she abandoned this idea due to new personal circumstances.

“She will no longer give birth to Narcissus. She has a new boyfriend and a new family. Valeria decided to continue a new round of her destiny. I think this is right: there is no need to be in mourning all the time – the anniversary has already passed. The most important thing is to be close to him with your heart. I’m truly happy for Valeria that she found a life partner,” admitted Sergei.
