According to a study, two popular drinks can dramatically increase blood pressure in 30 minutes. This is black and green tea, writes the Daily Express.

Initially, it was assumed that after drinking tea, blood pressure would decrease. However, it turned out that both black and green tea cause sharp increases in blood pressure.
The study was carried out in two stages. At the first stage, participants had to drink hot tea, water with the same amount of caffeine added as in tea, and plain water. It was attended by 20 men with normal blood pressure. At the second stage, the volunteers received only tea, here men and women with established hypertension were selected to participate.
Both black and green tea are noted to be rich in flavonoids, which are beneficial to health, but they also contain large amounts of caffeine. It was because of caffeine that an increase in pressure was observed half an hour after drinking. However, an hour later everything was back to normal.
“Contrary to our initial hypothesis, tea caused a more significant and dramatic increase in blood pressure than caffeinated water. However, with regular use, its exposure did not lead to significant changes in ambulatory blood pressure measurements, ”the study says.
However, other studies indicate that drinking hot tea is good for health.
