As a result of the hurricane, which raged on the evening of September 18 in the Kursk region, about 400 houses were damaged, First Deputy Governor Alexei Smirnov said at a meeting in the regional administration.

Now the authorities are working to restore the consequences of bad weather, during which the wind speed reached 25 m / s, it was raining heavily and even a tornado appeared. The Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) for the Kursk region is conducting a pre-investigation check.

The hurricane damaged seven power transmission towers and 42 transformer substations. Now, in 16 settlements of the Kursk region, 3.3 thousand houses remain without electricity, in which approximately 9.7 thousand people live. Brigades from Belgorod, Voronezh and Lipetsk arrived in the region to restore power grids. Authorities plan to complete restoration work by the end of the day. In Kursk, there is no electricity in 103 houses. Due to the hurricane, 33 trees fell and 21 cars were also damaged. Yesterday, according to Mayor Igor Kutsak, 75% of the monthly rainfall fell in the regional center.

The most affected district of the Kursk region is the Lgovsky district, where 220 private houses were damaged due to bad weather and the hospital remains without electricity. In the Korenevsky district, the wind ripped off the roofs of 13 houses, a school and a kindergarten were damaged. Deputy Governor Alexei Dedov said the local library was beyond repair after the hurricane.
