Named after the Hero of the Soviet Union: in the village of Sara, the school where the Soviet military leader studied will be renovated

The first school in the small village of Sara in the Sursky district of the Ulyanovsk region appeared in 1870 – it was a mixed elementary two-year public school, which was located in a small rented house. In 1890, the two-year elementary school received the status of a three-year elementary school, and after 15 years Grigory Andreevich Belov went to study there. The future lieutenant general graduated from only three grades of elementary school, as he was orphaned early and was forced to work. Nevertheless, the knowledge that he received could later help him achieve high ranks and show heroism at the front during the Great Patriotic War. During the Second World War, he was the commander of the 16th Guards Chernihiv Cavalry Division, proving himself in battle, received the honorary title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

A school in his native village would later be named after him. Formally, he did not study in it, the new building was rebuilt in 1935, but in fact it was the same educational institution. Today, the secondary school in the village of Sara named after the Hero of the Soviet Union, General Grigory Andreyevich Belov, cannot boast of comfortable classrooms. But already this September, she will appear before the students in an updated form, as she got into the federal program for the overhaul of schools.

“The priority direction of the people’s program of the United Russia party is to improve the quality of Russian education and create equal opportunities for educating children, regardless of the territory they live in. It is gratifying that ordinary rural schoolchildren from ordinary rural schools in the hinterland will have the opportunity to study in modern conditions that are no different from large cities. Words cannot express our happiness when we learned that the school in the village of Sarah was also included in the program. All party members, members of the political council monitor the progress of repairs at the facility on a daily basis. Now all works are in the active phase. The roof is being replaced, work is underway to update the interior, replace the electrical wiring. The heating system and the entrance group will also be updated here. The school will also receive new equipment and textbooks. The teachers will be trained. The renovation of the school is a very good thing. We are all looking forward to the completion of the work,” said Yelena Kireeva, a member of the Sursk local political council of United Russia.

“We are very pleased that our school has received attention and is finally being renovated. The school was like after devastation, now our children will go to a renovated modern school. We plan to come once a week and monitor the progress of the work,” Marina Dmitrieva, a representative of the parent community of the school, shared.
