Muslims supported the demand of the RJC to check the expert in the case of Evgenia Berkovich for anti-Semitism

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims (DUM) of the Russian Federation has joined the demand of the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC) to conduct an audit in connection with “anti-Semitic statements made by the head of the laboratory of destructology at the Moscow State Linguistic University. The reason was a comment by Roman Silantiev on the Lomovka resource, in which he cited, in particular, the data of his examination of the play Finist the Clear Falcon. “Earlier, on the basis of this examination, a criminal case was initiated to justify terrorism,” the RJC letter says. “The director of the play, Yevgenia Berkovich, was also accused in this case.”

The play “Finist the Clear Sokol” was staged by Evgenia Berkovich in 2020. It tells about Russian women recruited by radical Islamists on dating sites for a trip to Syria. The production was based on the play by Svetlana Petriychuk, written on the basis of real protocols of interrogations and sentences. In 2022, the production received two Golden Mask awards (given with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Moscow government) – for the best work of a costume designer and the best work of a playwright.

According to RJC, “Silantyev’s comment posted on the Telegram channel contains a lot of anti-Semitic prejudice.” “This is an anti-Semitic comment that gives us an idea of ​​the expert’s negative attitude towards Jews,” the RJC said in a statement.

Today, the support of the position of the RJC by the Muslim community was announced by the first deputy chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, Doctor of Theology Damir Mukhetdinov.

“We fully agree with the appeal of the Russian Jewish Congress addressed to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin with a request to conduct an investigation into the statements of citizen R. A. Silantiev for inciting ethnic hatred and bring him to the responsibility established by law,” Damir Mukhetdinov’s letter says. President of the RJC Yuri Kanner. — We consider it necessary to draw the attention of the general public to the inadmissibility of any actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, as well as at humiliating the dignity of a person or a group of persons on the grounds of gender, race, nationality, language, origin, attitude to religion as contrary to Russian legislation and common sense.
