The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the city of Moscow, in a publication on its official website, warned Muscovites and guests of the capital about a sharp deterioration in the weather from Friday evening until the end of Saturday with sleet, rain and snow and wind with gusts of up to 21 meters per second.
The department’s message states that in the period from 21:00 on October 6 until the end of the day on October 7, due to the release of an active Atlantic cyclone and associated atmospheric fronts, the weather in the Russian capital will sharply worsen. At night and in the morning of October 7, the air temperature will drop to between 0 and -2 degrees Celsius, and there will be icy conditions on the roads in some places. From 09:00 on October 7 until the end of the day, heavy rain with snow is expected, as well as increased westerly winds with gusts from 16 to 21 meters per second.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations urged drivers to drive slowly and increase the distance to the cars in front, avoiding sudden maneuvers, overtaking, changing lanes and overtaking.
