Muscovite fined 45,000 rubles for trying to take goshawks to Abkhazia

A resident of Moscow tried to take rare hawks out of the territory of the Russian Federation to Abkhazia, wrapping them in tape and hiding them in the spare wheel compartment. He was fined 45 thousand rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Krasnodar customs.

“… the birds are one-year-old goshawks traded under the CITES Convention,” the statement said.

Birds were found during inspection of the trunk of the car. They were in the spare wheel well, wrapped in duct tape and cloth.

According to the driver, he transported birds from the Red Book for himself, but did not complete the documents to save time. Due to the lack of a declaration, the hawks were seized.

Now the predators are staying in one of the sanatoriums in Sochi, the issue of placing them in a local zoo is being decided.

The court found the Muscovite guilty under Article 16.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions) and under Article 16.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (failure to declare goods). He was fined 45 thousand rubles.
