“Movement of conscientious objectors” nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

The International Peace Bureau has nominated the Russian organization Movement of Conscientious Objectors to Military Service (recognized as a foreign agent) for the Nobel Peace Prize. This is reported on site international bureau.
In addition, two more organizations that help deserters and refuseniks were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize – the Belarusian organization Our Home, as well as the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement.
The International Bureau said in a statement that the organizations “have shown unprecedented skill and dedication in their efforts as champions of peace, conscientious objection and human rights.” The bureau especially noted their merits after the outbreak of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, “despite significant stigmatization.”
Among the goals on the website of the Movement of Conscientious Objectors of Military Service are: support for conscientious objectors, including the provision of psychological and legal assistance; opposition to militarization and humanization of Russian society; increasing the availability of the institution of alternative civil service. The Ministry of Justice recognized the organization as a foreign agent on June 23 this year.
