The Center for Research on Civil Society and the Non-Profit Sector of the National Research University Higher School of Economics conducted a study on the involvement of Russians in helping the military and their families after the start of the special operation in Ukraine. According to the results of the study, since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, more than half (56%) of Russians have provided support to Russian military personnel or their families. Over the year, the share of the population involved in such assistance has increased: in the fall of 2022 it was 45%.
As Vedomosti reports, citing the results of the study, more than a quarter of the citizens surveyed donated money to the military and their loved ones (28%), almost the same number of respondents donated things or products for free (23% each). Every fifth respondent provided emotional support (21%), and every tenth respondent helped military families with housework (12%). Another 8% of respondents provided free consultations for participants in the military operation in Ukraine and their families within the framework of their professional competence, according to the survey results.
As Kommersant previously reported, a recent study by an independent sociological group Russian Field showed that in the minds of the overwhelming majority of Russians, victory in the Northern Military District is in one way or another connected with the unconditional defeat of Ukraine, and almost a quarter of respondents are ready to consider the annexation and assignment of new territories to the Russian Federation as such a result. 58% of potential voters believe that Russian parties should support the military operation.
