On Wednesday, 107 Russians were evacuated from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah checkpoint, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported, TASS reports.
Earlier it was reported that 88 Russian citizens passed through this checkpoint on November 15. According to representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Rafah continued to work beyond the established deadline, which made it possible to bring an additional group of people to the Egyptian side. As a result, 107 compatriots and their families crossed the border with the Gaza Strip over the past day.
At the moment, this group of Russians is on buses heading to Cairo, from where they will be transported to Moscow on board the Il-76 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. There is also another group of 40 Russian citizens in Cairo, who left the Gaza Strip through Rafah on Tuesday, November 14. In total, 316 people have so far been evacuated from the conflict zone, of which 168 have already been delivered to Russia.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations together with diplomats is organizing the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip who find themselves in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The process began on November 12, when the first group of 70 Russian citizens crossed Rafah into Egyptian territory.
