Manufacturing industry grew the most – by 8.2 percent – in the capital. The provision of electricity, gas and steam, as well as air conditioning, decreased by 2 percent. Water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal, and pollution elimination activities also fell sharply – by 17.6 percent.

Manufacturing industry is a fairly broad concept that includes everything from metallurgy to haberdashery. It is all the more interesting to consider where it has grown and where it has fallen. For example, the undisputed growth leader in the capital was the manufacture of knitted and knitted clothing – as much as 40.3 times! How to explain this – fashion trends or preparation for the cold – is not entirely clear.

The production of steel pipes, hollow profiles and fittings (this is the name of the connecting part of the pipeline, which provides branches, transitions to a different diameter, turns, sealing, quick assembly and disassembly) also looks good – 12.4 times.

The production of computers and peripheral equipment, games and toys increased by 9.4 times – by 6.4 times.

However, there are also declines in the manufacturing sector. For example, the production of pharmaceutical substances fell by 96.4 percent, while the production of aircraft and related equipment fell by 63 percent.

In January-August 2022, Moscow shipped food products of its own production in the amount of 357 billion rubles. This is 5 percent more than in the same period last year. Finished metal products (except for machinery and equipment) were shipped for 296.6 billion rubles – 57.1 percent more than in the first half of last year.

The smallest volume of shipped goods of own production in January-August 2022 was noted in the following activities: mining of metal ores – 19 thousand rubles (99.5 percent less than in the same period last year), production of chemical fibers – 523 thousand rubles ( 87.5 percent less than in the same period last year), the production of musical instruments – 8.7 million rubles (36.8 percent less than in the same period last year).

The oil product production index for the full range of producers in January-August 2022 amounted to 115.8 percent. In total, oil products worth 3.7 trillion rubles were shipped, which is 7.8 percent more than in the first half of last year.

In August 2022, in Moscow, the average consumer price for AI-92 gasoline was 47.79 rubles, AI-95 – 53.09 rubles, AI-98 and higher – 61.56 rubles, diesel fuel – 54.22 ruble.

For comparison: the average fuel prices in August 2021 were: AI-92 gasoline – 46.10 rubles, AI-95 – 51.30 rubles, AI-98 and higher – 58.82 rubles, diesel fuel – 50.16 rubles.
