Microsoft adds new features to the free version of Teams for Windows 11 – Kommersant

American corporation Microsoft updated free version of Teams for Windows 11 and added new features to it – communities appeared in the application, as well as a neural network that generates pictures using artificial intelligence. Also in the company reported that in 2023 the main version of the client in Windows will replace Teams 2.0.

Communities in Teams are similar to similar tools in Discord or WhatsApp (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned). They first appeared in the mobile app in December 2022, but only now appeared in the version for Windows 11. In the future, communities will appear in Windows 10, mac-OS and the web version of the service. Teams also introduced a Microsoft Designer feature that, using neural networks, will be able to generate images with invitations to events, pictures for social networks, and banners for communities.

Also Teams 2.0. will become the default app in Windows during 2023 and will replace the current version. Teams 2.0 is currently in beta and lacks some of the features available in the core Teams app.
