The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Russian manufacturers of equipment may limit the parallel import of more than 20 foreign brands of computing electronics to Russia, including Acer, Dell, IBM and others. About it informs Kommersant, citing its own sources.

ANO “Computer Engineering” offers the Ministry of Industry and Trade to exclude products from Acer, Asus, MSI, Palit and other brands from parallel imports. The Ministry of Economy has a more extensive list – it also includes IBM, Dell, HP, CiscoOracle and a number of others.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Shpak told Kommersant that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is “waiting for more specifically formulated proposals”, the initiative is being discussed. The Ministry of Digital Development notes that it is possible to consider the issue of blocking parallel imports of certain products only if their production is established in Russia.

In September 2022, prices for servers and data storage systems (SHD) increased by 30–50% compared to January, Dmitry Isaev, director of Softline cloud solutions management, told Vedomosti. The growth in the cost and delivery time of server equipment was also confirmed by representatives of Disilodzhik, Selectel, Promobit and Norsi-trans.

In November 2022, it became known that the Russian infrastructure equipment manufacturer F+ tech was building a plant for the production of domestic servers and storage systems. The enterprise is focused on the performance of up to 250,000 devices per year.
