Zaporozhye NPP (ZNPP) will now work under the guidance of relevant departments, said Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin. However, he did not name a specific agency.

“ZNPP is now located on the territory of the Russian Federation and, accordingly, should work under the guidance of our relevant departments,” Mr. Vershinin said during today’s briefing (quoted from “RIA News”). He stressed that the procedure for the functioning of the station will be discussed with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi during his visit to Moscow, announced yesterday, October 4th.

Earlier, adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern (part of Rosatom), Renat Karchaa, said that the new general director of ZNPP could be chosen from among the current employees of the plant. Rafael Grossi plans to visit Moscow and Kyiv this week to continue consultations with the parties to the conflict on the fate of the ZNPP.

The former general director of the plant, Igor Murashov, as previously stated in Energoatom, was detained by the Russian authorities and subsequently handed over to the Ukrainian side. According to the IAEA, Mr. Murashov is more will not. The Ukrainian side has previously demanded sanctions against Rosatom because of the management of the station.
