The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation may temporarily prohibit meeting and seeing off passengers at airports in order to strengthen security measures. The press service of the department reported this on Friday, February 16.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that they continue to work to improve the regulatory framework for ensuring the security of airport infrastructure, including in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
In particular, it is possible to introduce temporary restrictions on the admission to the airport of persons who are not passengers and do not have travel documents. Such measures may be introduced for a short period of time for a specific airport during times of greatest danger, the ministry noted.
Meanwhile, the airports of the capital’s air hub continue to operate as normal, despite difficult weather conditions and a noticeable decrease in visibility due to snowfall. On February 15, it was reported that in Vnukovo visibility had decreased to 600 meters, and to 800 meters in Sheremetyevo. A similar situation developed in Zhukovsky.
