The condition of the complex infrastructure of the capital’s metro is under constant monitoring. Metro employees update it regularly. This is largely due to the safety and reliability of subway travel.
Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov said that the successful functioning of all metro systems is closely related to the condition of the electrical networks. It is a stable power supply that ensures the operation of escalators, ventilation, lighting, turnstiles, ticket vending machines, and most importantly, the uninterrupted movement of trains.
“Regular cable replacement improves travel safety and the quality of passenger service. We are updating the infrastructure according to the task of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin,” says Liksutov.
Comfort at stations and in tunnels is also achieved through regular replacement of lamps and light bulbs. This is not the easiest job, because there are a huge number of them in the metro. According to Liksutov, in the first three months of the year, almost 14 thousand lamps, about 9 thousand lamps and more than 19 km of cable lines were replaced.
