Former midfielder of the Russian football team Pavel Mamaev commented on the words of the player of the Cypriot “Aris” Alexander Kokorin, who said earlier that every real man should be in prison at least once.
Mamaev said that he did not watch the interview where Kokorin said this. However answered to the question “Match TV” whether he agrees with his statement.
“Everyone has their own opinion,” Mamaev said. I can’t tell if it’s right or not. Today I understand that the prison did not bring me anything good and did not give me anything.”
The athlete explained that “it was a kind of experience,” but he did not take anything good from there.
In October 2018, Pavel Mamaev, as well as the Kokorin brothers and their friend Alexander Protasovitsky, after two fights in the center of Moscow, became defendants in a criminal case. Kokorin in a cafe hit the head of the department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Pak with a chair, causing him a head injury.
In May 2019, all four were sentenced to prison terms. Mamaev, like Protasovitsky, received 1 year and 5 months, Kokorins – a year and a half. All of them were serving a real term and were released on parole in September of the same year.
