Lefortovo court arrested a native of Crimea on suspicion of treason

The Lefortovo Court of Moscow granted the petition of the FSB investigator and arrested Lenya Umerova, a native of Crimea. She is suspected of high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the press service of the court told TASS. The court refused to provide detailed information about the case, indicating that the materials were classified.
According to media reports, Mrs. Umerova is 25 years old. In 2015 she moved to Kyiv. In December last year, the girl decided to come to the Crimea to visit her father, who was diagnosed with cancer. Lenia Umerova went to the Crimea by bus “Tbilisi-Simferopol”. At the Upper Lars checkpoint, she was detained by Russian border guards and taken to Vladikavkaz.
Lenia Umerova was found guilty of violating the rules for crossing the Russian border (part 1 of article 18.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). She spent the next three months in detention at the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens. After Mrs. Umerova was released from the detention center, she was detained again.
On May 4, the girl’s brother Aziz Umerov told the Ukrainian newspaper Grati that she had been charged with espionage. He said that the FSB officers brought the girl from Vladikavkaz to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow. Today, May 5, it became known that Lenia Umerova is suspected of treason. She could face a life sentence.
