A group of LDPR deputies is going to submit a bill to the State Duma proposing to set the lower threshold of salaries for teachers in Russia at two and a half times the minimum wage, reported in Telegram deputy head of the party Yaroslav Nilov.
“In order to establish an understandable guarantee for our teachers of a decent level of their salary when working full-time, we propose to fix the cost of paying teachers in municipal educational organizations at no lower than 2.5 minimum wages,” Mr. Nilov wrote. From January 1, 2023, the minimum wage is 16,242 rubles.
The bill proposed for consideration should, as conceived by the authors, increase the prestige of the teaching profession. Mr. Nilov emphasized that the expenses proposed in the project should be taken into account when considering the budget plan for 2024-2026. The bill is planned to be submitted to the State Duma today, September 25, he said.
