The Ebeko volcano, located in the Kuril Islands, emitted a column of ash, the height of which was four and a half thousand meters above sea level.

As reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the release occurred on Monday at 12:14 p.m. local time.

According to the Sakhalin head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the plume from the release spread in a northeast direction over a distance of more than five kilometers. In Severo-Kurilsk, no ash fall was observed, and the smell of hydrogen sulfide was also not felt. There is no threat to the livelihoods of the population.
