The use of VPN services can lead to users being involved in criminal schemes, such as DDoS attacks on government resources, said State Duma deputy Anton Nemkin.
“Criminal elements are constantly improving their methods. Currently, VPNs are widely used to attract users to participate in botnets, which can lead to the user’s device participating in DDoS attacks, including attacks on government resources,” he noted in an interview with RIA News.
According to the deputy, there is a possibility that the installed software for establishing a VPN connection may contain hidden functionality.
