87-year-old King Harald V of Norway was hospitalized with an infection. This happened during a holiday in Malaysia, according to the Norwegian royal court.
“His Majesty the King fell ill while on holiday in Malaysia and was hospitalized with an infection,” the statement said.
They added that the king is being assisted by both Malaysian and Norwegian doctors.
Harald V ascended the throne in 1991. He is the oldest monarch in Europe and continues to fulfill his duties. After Queen Margrethe II of Denmark abdicated, Harald said that he would not follow her example because he had taken a lifelong oath.
