Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired from the MMA industry and said goodbye to his team, TASS reports.
Reportedly, the athlete intends to spend more time with his family, which makes it impossible for him to coach and travel to training camps.
“I hope my decision will only benefit, hugged you all tightly! Thank you, you were a big reason for my success in sports,” he addressed his team on social networks.
In October 2020, Khabib announced his retirement from professional football. The Russian left the sport undefeated with 29 victories. The Russian held his last fight in October 2020, being stronger than the American Justin Gaethje.
After that, Khabib took up coaching. Under his leadership, compatriot Islam Makhachev became the UFC lightweight champion in 2022, and his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov won the Bellator belt in the same weight category.
