Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has decided to retire from the mixed martial arts (MMA) industry. The decision was reported by a number of channels and a source TASS. Nurmagomedov reposted such an entry from the za.khabiba channel on Instagram (the social network belongs to Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).
As noted in the entry, the decision applies to everything related to MMA, including work as a coach. The reason is the desire of the athlete to spend more time with his family. Nurmagomedov himself said on Instagram two days ago that, together with his team, he summed up the results of the year and announced a decision that, he hopes, “will only benefit.” What decision the athlete made was not specified then.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is 34 years old. On his account – 29 victories and not a single defeat. The athlete became the UFC champion in 2018 and defended the title three times. He retired in October 2020 and has worked as a coach since then. In 2022, Nurmagomedov was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
