Plenipotentiary Yakushev announced the connection between Kazakhstan’s reservoirs and floods in Russia

Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Ural Federal District Vladimir Yakushev said that the flood situation in the regions of Russia this year was extremely unfavorable, including due to the actions of neighboring Kazakhstan. Speaking on television with a story about the situation in the Orenburg and Kurgan regions, the plenipotentiary expressed the opinion that the situation was aggravated by the release of water from Kazakh reservoirs, which had not been agreed with Russia. According to Yakushev, for example, in the Tyumen region, floods most threaten the city of Ishim, located right on the border.

“If we are talking about Kurgan and we are also talking about the Tyumen region, then we need to have such a factor as a system of reservoirs,” said the plenipotentiary. “There is something to work out in this regard with our colleagues so that the discharge of this water from reservoirs is more coordinated.”

Previously, the contractor who built the protective dam in Orsk said that rodents could be to blame for its destruction. Experts interviewed by MK doubted this version, and also suggested that if the structure can be damaged by small animals, then this is all the more “indicates the mistakes of the builders”. Residents of Orsk, meanwhile, began to notice large representatives of the rodent order – muskrats and beavers – on the streets of the flooded city. The latter, as the locals hope, will help build a new dam.
