Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov in a conversation with RTVI called information about a massive offer to conscripts to enter into a contract with the Ministry of Defense rumors of “unfriends”. According to him, everything happens voluntarily.
“It’s nonsense that conscripts are offered en masse to sign a contract. These are our “enemies” who are trying to catch some kind of hype on this topic. Everything is happening in an absolutely organized, understandable, transparent and voluntary manner,” said Mr. Kartopolov.
The head of the committee emphasized that every person has the right to contract service, including those undergoing conscription military service. According to him, a conscript, having completed the initial training course and taken the oath, can choose: to serve under a contract or military service.
