Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov called the order on additional mobilization published on social networks, which was allegedly signed by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, “utter nonsense.” According to Mr. Kartapolov, there are no plans to carry out mobilization activities in Russia.

“This is complete nonsense! No mobilization is planned. These are the tricks of our opponents, who are throwing in a fake, concocted document via the Internet,” said Andrei Kartapolov in a conversation with RTVI.

Since the beginning of March, a photo of the order on “additional conscription for military service for mobilization” began to circulate on social networks, in which military registration and enlistment offices were instructed to call up 300 thousand people for service as part of the partial mobilization by June 1, 2024. The document was allegedly signed by Sergei Shoigu on March 6.

Partial mobilization in Russia was announced on September 21, 2022 by decree of President Vladimir Putin. On October 28 of the same year, the head of the Ministry of Defense reported on the completion of the task of mobilizing and recruiting 300 thousand people. There was no decree to complete the partial mobilization. Vladimir Putin October 30 confirmedthat the call was completed, and promised to consult with lawyers about the need for an additional decree. On a direct line in December 2023, the President statedthat a new wave of mobilization is not needed in Russia now. According to him, there were 244 thousand mobilized in the combat zone at that time.
