JK Rowling enraged Scots with her garden trimming

This is not the first time that the plans of the author of the Harry Potter books have caused negativity among local residents.

The literary “mother” of the young wizard Harry Potter, JK Rowling, has once again found herself in the spotlight. Furious parents of schoolchildren have complained that work to trim giant Leyland cypress trees near a writer’s Edinburgh home has led to road closures. Children began to be late for school in large numbers.

Amazing things are nearby! New photos obtained by the Daily Mail show a huge traffic jam outside JK Rowling’s Edinburgh home on Thursday morning. Parts of the road were closed and workers used forklifts to reach the tops of the giant Leylandias (an evergreen plant with a symmetrical, dense crown).

The work, which takes place between 7.30am and 3.30pm most of the week, has sparked fury among parents who have complained the work is causing their children to be late for school.

One parent wonders: “Why can’t they do this during February break? They have hours during the day when the roads are quiet. Nobody blocks the street to trim hedges anymore.”

Another mother of a Scottish schoolboy is also outraged: “Calling rush hour traffic to trim a hedge makes no sense. This resulted in my child and many others being late. “I can’t understand why it can’t be done on weekends or during less busy times like 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.”

Such moments have repeatedly outraged the neighbors of the author of the Harry Potter books. In 2011, JK Rowling received permission to demolish a 1970s building on the adjacent site, bought for £1 million, to expand the garden. Heritage watchdog the Cockburn Association expressed doubts about the wisdom of buying back the “perfectly adequate and functional” house, but made no formal objections.

The following year, Rowling received permission to build two luxury tree houses in her garden, despite protests from local residents.

Local residents expressed concern that the large size of the tree houses would make them visible from the roadside and said they would detract from the surrounding conservation area.

However, the writer has applied for the massive £250,000 structure to be erected as part of a scheme to renovate her home. These unusual buildings were intended for her two youngest children, each of whom received their own two-story house.

Each structure is nearly 40 feet tall and features secret tunnels and bay windows.
