Japanese cardiologists have learned how loneliness affects heart health

Scientists from the University of Sapporo in Japan found that older people who feel lonely most often complain of heart problems. Research Details published in the scientific journal Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
In total, 300 patients over the age of 65 took part in the observations of Japanese doctors. The scientists gave them a questionnaire to measure the level of loneliness of people, and then began to monitor the health of the elderly.
As a result of the experiment, scientists found that the clinical picture of people with heart disease worsened significantly if they often experienced loneliness.
Nevertheless, the authors of the study emphasize that the feeling of loneliness is familiar to all people, however, cultural characteristics make their own adjustments to the perception of this state.
Scientists hope that in the future they will be able to study the effects of loneliness on health among a more diverse and mass group of people.
