The Severskie organized crime group has kept Sergiev Posad at bay since the late 1990s and was one of the most brutal gangs in the Moscow region. The Severskikhs could not be caught for 20 years.

The organized crime group was formed in 1997. Gatherings of bandits take place in the center of Sergiev Posad, in the Sever restaurant, hence the name of the gang. Members of the organized crime group have been responsible for dozens of murders and attempts, demonstrative reprisals, and the taking of business from local entrepreneurs.

Investigators said the criminals acted “cunningly and spread their influence throughout the city.” Businessmen had to coordinate every step they took with the organized crime group.

The bandits lived on blood money – they bought foreign cars and had fun abroad. Competitors from other organized crime groups were dealt with brutally and methodically.

Over the years, the gang began to act more carefully. The bandits killed people in deserted places, the bodies of the dead were carefully hidden, and the weapons were destroyed.

During the time that the organized crime group operated, 30 criminal cases were opened, but they were considered each separately and were terminated due to the impossibility of identifying the persons involved.

In 2019, employees of the Investigative Committee and the police came to the conclusion that we were talking about a large gangster group and the cases were combined.

This has brought results: seven members of the organized crime group have already been convicted, and cases against three more are now being considered in court.

The bandits are in pre-trial detention, they have been charged with 10 murders, five attempts and other crimes.
