What HIMARS is afraid of: The Public Council under the Ministry of Defense visited the air defense “training”

A working group of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense, led by the chairman of the council and editor-in-chief of MK Pavel Gusev, visited military units in the Orenburg region. They visited, in particular, the air defense training center, the headquarters of the Strategic Missile Forces army, as well as the Orenburg Presidential Cadet Corps and the regional assembly point. Social activists were also interested in how in the Orenburg region they help soldiers who returned from the Northern Military District zone and support their families. A MK correspondent accompanied the delegation on a trip to the garrisons.

A visit to one of the leading air defense training centers, which trains specialists who are most in demand in the face of constant missile and drone attacks from Ukraine, became an important point in the work program of the Public Council delegation. The Orenburg Air Defense Training Center named after Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal of Artillery V.I. Kazakov, trains conscript soldiers and sergeants, and also retrains specialists for new anti-aircraft systems, including training soldiers who arrived from the Northern Military District zone.

Airborne personnel receive here not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills, mastering new types of weapons at training grounds. Foreigners are also trained here.

In one of the classrooms, social activists found fighters studying the theory of the new promising Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system. Moreover, all the guys in the class are fighters who recently arrived from the Northern Military District zone. Before this, they were part of the calculations of the older Buk-M1 complexes. After gaining new knowledge in Orenburg, they will return to the Northern Military District zone and will work on new equipment.

The teachers admitted that working with such students is easy and pleasant – they already have a base, both practical and theoretical.

– How do you like the new technology? Do you have a feeling that you have become stronger than your opponent? – the head of the Public Council Pavel Gusev asked the cadets.

– Now we have theoretical classes. And a month later we go to the test site and begin to accept new equipment. A year ago, four units of new equipment were received. The technique is excellent, amazing! It’s a pleasure to work on it and perform combat missions. You work and understand that it will not let you down,” said one of the cadets.

Conscripts, in addition to a detailed study of the “insides” of advanced air defense systems, as well as practical work, are also taught other disciplines – hand-to-hand combat techniques, shooting from various small arms. Much attention is paid to tactical medicine. In the medical class, fighters practice first aid skills using modern robots. Robots not only breathe, blink, and sweat very realistically, but they also die and also “come to life” if the fighters have correctly mastered the basics of medical care.

– If assistance is provided incorrectly, then the computer will reflect that he has died. Look, his heart stopped beating. Let’s start resuscitation! – comments the soldier-instructor.

– Why do the robot’s fingers glow? – asked the public.

It turned out that this means that the limbs have turned blue and, therefore, the bandage was made incorrectly.

However, after a couple of seconds, the robot’s fingers become pink again, breathing is restored, and the eyes open again. The task of rescuing the robot is completed.

Practical training takes place on the parade ground. Here they practice evacuating the wounded from military equipment or from the battlefield.

The delegations of the Public Council showed the air defense systems that are currently operating in the Northern Defense zone – “Tor”, “Buk”, S-300. They, along with the “oldies” – military equipment that worked back in the 60s, are collected in the training center.

– Anti-aircraft missile system “Tor-M1”. The crew is four people – a driver, a crew chief, two operators,” Sergei Muchkaev, head of the Ground Forces Air Defense Training Center, tells us about the air defense complex – the threat of the American Hymers and the British Storm Shadows. – Participates in air defense, successfully performs combat missions. A very good complex, its effectiveness is high, to the point that, having used up all the missiles, it continues to direct the missiles of other combat vehicles. They can be connected to each other: one has worked, you can connect the other.

– It is very correct that you collect all types of weapons – both those that are a thing of the past and those that carry out combat missions in the Northern Military District zone. This is very important,” said the head of the Public Council. You can clearly see how technology is developing, how it is becoming more and more perfect…

Social activists also highly appreciated the joint work of the regional government and the military commissariat of the Orenburg region to support military personnel of the Northern Military District and organize the conscription campaign.

During a meeting at the regional assembly point, Minister of Social Development of the Orenburg Region Elena Sladkova said that a targeted support service for SVO participants and their families had been created. As in many regions, each military family here is assigned a curator who knows about all the problems and needs of the family and tries to help solve them.

The region is also trying to be proactive. Orenburg social workers receive information in advance about seriously wounded soldiers who are just about to return home, and they are already preparing a “road map” for him and his family in advance, so as to resolve all issues related to rehabilitation, socialization, employment and the return of fighters to peaceful life.
