In Yaroslavl, after renovation, a large ice sports complex is being prepared for opening on Panina Street in the Dzerzhinsky district. The Champion ice complex was forced to close in the fall of 2022. The reason for stopping the work of the sports facility is problems with the foundation.
As it turned out, the large slab foundation of the sports complex “floated” and tilted. It was necessary to urgently take measures to correct the situation, otherwise the foundation could crack.
All sports schools that were based in the ice sports complex moved classes to the Zavolzhsky and Leninsky districts.
The repair work was carried out by the Yartehstroy company. The cost of work to straighten the foundation was estimated at 64 million rubles.
The work was due to be completed at the end of October 2023. But the contractor delayed the process.
A skating rink is currently being built in the building. “Champion” should open in March. The ice sports complex hosted sports sections for short track speed skating, hockey and figure skating.
