300 Northern Military District veterans will compete at the Fatherland Defenders Cup in Kaluga

At the Fatherland Defenders Cup, which opened on Thursday, February 22, in Kaluga, 300 Northern Military District veterans will compete for leadership.

The interregional tournament opened at the Central Sports Palace in Kaluga.

The opening was attended by such high-ranking guests as Chairman of the State Fund for Support of Participants of the Special Military Operation “Defenders of the Fatherland” Anna Tsivileva, Chief Federal Inspector in the Kaluga Region Igor Knyazev, Senator of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Alexander Karelin.

All of them highly appreciated the platform that the region provided them and thanked Vladislav Shapsha for this.

He also thanked the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation and the Paralympic Committee for their trust.

“The fortitude and will of these people cannot be broken. They stood up to defend the Motherland. They showed courage and heroism. Despite their injuries, they play sports and remain persistent and strong people,” the governor wrote on his social networks after the opening of the tournament.

Let us remind you that 300 participants from 29 regions of Russia will compete for leadership in six sports until February 24.

The Kaluga region will be represented by 17 people.
