In the Lazarevsky and Khostinsky districts of Sochi, siren-speech installations have been launched to promptly alert the population about possible emergencies, Kommersant was told in the press service of the mayor’s office of the resort city. The alert worked due to a rise in the water level in the Matsesta, Dagomys, Bzugu and Khobza rivers to the “adverse phenomenon” mark.
The city administration clarified that the Matsesta, Dagomys, Bzugu and Khobza rivers have not yet overflowed their banks, but such a danger remains. A storm warning continues to operate in the resort city, heavy rains are possible until the end of the day, as well as thunderstorms and hail. On the rivers, sharp rises in water levels are likely, there is a risk of mudflows. On the coast, the danger of the formation of tornadoes over the sea remains.
All emergency services in Sochi are working in an enhanced mode. The beaches are closed for swimming, residents and guests of the city are advised to refrain from relaxing near the water.
