Today in Russia they said goodbye to the pilots of PMC “Wagner” Alexander Antonov and Vladimir Nikishin. Both soldiers were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia. Russian pilots confirmed the feat of Captain Nikolai Gastello, who sent his plane into a column of Nazi troops during the Great Patriotic War.
The farewell ceremony for the pilots took place on the morning of December 20 at one of the airfields in the Russian Federation. FAN reports. Their colleagues and friends came to see the pilots off on their last journey. After the farewell ceremony, the bodies of the heroes were sent to their small homeland, where they will be buried. Nikishin is in Balashikha, and Antonov is in Chelyabinsk.
The event was also attended by Evgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner PMC. He thanked the pilots for their service and said that by the decree of Vladimir Putin, both pilots were posthumously awarded the title of Heroes of Russia.
“Their contract is over. They fulfilled it with honor, ”Prigozhin quotes the publication.
Alexander Antonov and Vladimir Nikishin died on December 2 near Bakhmut. Their Su-24M was shot down during another sortie. The pilots sent the burning car into the column of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, preventing the breakthrough of enemy detachments.
