In Russia, 679 thousand people were left without electricity due to bad weather – Kommersant

Due to deteriorating weather in several regions of Russia, about 679 thousand residents are disconnected from power supply, reported Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. Energy workers are carrying out emergency restoration work, the department added.
As of 18:00 Moscow time remain de-energized:
- in the Rostov region – 185.5 thousand people;
- in the DPR – 235.4 thousand people;
- in the LPR – 255.7 thousand people;
- in the Pskov region – 1.2 thousand people;
- in the Smolensk region – 1.8 thousand people.
In the LPR and the Rostov region, a storm warning was announced due to wind and sleet. As reported at the Phobos center, on December 14–15 in the Russian regions collapsed Cyclone Vanya, which caused snowfalls. Anomalous snowfall was recorded in the southwest of Central Russia and the west of the Black Earth Region. According to weather forecasters, the cyclone brought up to 30% of the monthly precipitation to Moscow.
